History of the Forum

Since the failure of the Oslo accords and the second Intifada, peace has been sacrificed for two generations of young Israelis and Palestinians, who are literally contaminated and poisoned by the conflict.

In spite of this difficult situation, the International Forum for Peace pursues its cooperation work.

In order to change the atmosphere of violence and hate, education, economics and culture are the essential levers to bring together the two societies, creating the possibility of making progress toward a culture of peace.

Successively I have witnessed an extraordinary bringing together of the two cultures after 1993, and a destructive distancing since the second Intifada.

Avoiding sounding angelic, and with real knowledge of the obstacles which exist, I want to believe that it is possible to give hope back and encourage cooperation and national aspirations in mutual respect, humility and generosity.

Ofer Bronchtein

The International Forum for Peace was co-founded in 2002 by Ofer Brochtein, Isreali, who used to work with Itzhak Rabin, and Anis El Qaq, who represents the Palestinian Authority in Switzerland.

The two men, who were tied by friendship after the Oslo agreements in 1993, have worked together for the bringing together and reconciliation of the two communities.

The creation of the Forum is a result of a desire to refuse the fatality of conflict. Its objective is to support all concrete measures aiming to establish the foundation of a future and durable collaboration between the two peoples.
